The other night Joe Biden was on Jon Stewart's DAILY SHOW publicly
flirting with a presidential run and whining about how Bush had lied us
into a war.  This NATION piece clarifies much, though.  He's talking
about both sides of his mouth, depending on the audience.  I hadn't
realized Biden was such a close advisor of John Kerry, but that explains
much.

It's exactly the same of those gutless wonders in the Humpety-Hump-Hump
campaign of 1968, who wanted to whine about how poor LBJ had been
suckered into Vietnam, but that, now that he had been suckered into it,
the country had an obligation to stay the course and win the war.

These people inspire another image from the 60s.  What if one of the
Manson family blundered into the Tate home after the killing started....
"Well, Charlie didn't tell us what was going on here, but now that we
are here, we'd better finish the job."

Or, how about other analogies. "Well, we were clearly lied to about the
atrocities in the Sudetenland in order to justify the 1938 invasion, but
now that we have, we should back Adolph and finish the job."
