Re: [Marxism] Re: Workers disrupt flights at Heathrow

Workers at an aircraft catering firm based at Heathrow went on unofficial
strike after the company hired 130 casual workers. The company reacted by
sacking their entire workforce and baggage handlers working at one of the
terminals at Heathrow walked out in solidarity, bringing all British Airways
flights
to a standstill.

It was reported on the BBC news yesterday that BA have lost an estimated 40
million pounds, around 80 million dollars, so far as a result of the strike.

Now their executives and major shareholders know where the real power is.
Their Chief Executive was on TV doing what Chief Executives always do, trying
to demonise the workers and accusing them of letting down the customers.

Half of their staff probably couldn't even afford to fly BA, and as for the
catering workers involved, their average wage is just above minimum wage.

More power to them.
