[Marxism] "The Tragedy of Progress"

Louis, thank you for this essay and source material provided therein.
Fascinating stuff.

I've never read the stuff about the Brit RCP and native peoples, but
it's totally consistent with their "super-industrialization"
perspective and libertarianism of the far-right. I have a two points
or questions:

1. There seems to be a real symmetry between the development of the
British RCP and the Larouchite NCLC on these exact same questions. Do
you know of any contact between the two tendencies? It's a scary
thought should they ever get together!

2. One of the points, and I may of missed it in you essay, is the
First People's question and Quebec Independence. As you may remember,
the Trotskyists of the LSA and GSTQ were both unconditional
supporters of the right of Quebec to independence. From what little I
see reported, most of the native Americans there are VERY much
opposed to this, seeing English speaking Canada as a defacto defender
of native rights as opposed to the perception that the Quebec
nationaists are vicious racists. There were, in fact, moves of
secession from Quebec to neighboring Provinces when the referendum
years ago was up for debate. Have you thought about how these two
questions tie in vis-a-vis Marxist (pre) of them?
