"The establishment of the state of Israel – which was a necessary
consequence, but happend too late unfortunately – took place in a situation,
where after national socialism no attempts were made, to abolish state,
nation, capital and Germany, and thus
the basis for modern anti-Semitism once and for all."
To paint the partition of Palestine and the establishment of Israel as a
consequence, a too-late response to the holocaust, is to ignore not only
Zionist collaboration in the holocaust, but is also to ignore the intimate
relationship Zionism has with imperialism. Pessimistically determining that
anti-semitism is hereditary, incureable, and unchallengeable, zionists
conceived of Israel as a colonial settler state, and set about trying to
convince the imperial powers that a Jewish state could serve as an island of
civilization in a sea of barbarism. Not only were Zionists more than willing
to appeal to
"Solidarity with Israel includes solidarity with its self-defense"
Israel is running a violent military occupation. There's nothing defensive
about that.
In this context, Zionism is not the right answer to
anti-Semitism, but for the time being, it is the only
answer possible.
From a materialistic
point of view, the Zionist categorical imperative
would then be, roughly: As long as there are people,
who feel committed to Marx's imperative, but don't
succeed in implementing it in any way, we try to
follow Adorno's imperative by providing the physical
integrity of Jews with force."""
Marxists are not concerned with tagging Israel with foreknowledge of

> Israel is a settler state. Like apartheid South Africa, Rhodesia. A

And in fact, Herzl and Weizmannn explicitly compared their aims with the
South African conception of a racially distinct colonizing population, and
built close relationships with South Africa.

Contrary to popular belief, conventional wisdom would have one believe that
it is insane to resist this, the mightiest of empires.... But what history
really shows is that today's empire is tomorrow's ashes, that nothing lasts
forever, and that to not resist is to acquiesce in your own oppression. The
greatest form of sanity that anyone can exercise is to resist that force
that is trying to repress, oppress, and fight down the human spirit.
