[Marxism] Re: Early Laundry Workers' Union?
There are several Internet sites that credit the striking women laundry
workers of Seattle with giving Dave Beck his great power as the leader
of the West Coast Teamsters.
Women laundry workers were considered barely a step above prostitutes.
Beck's position as a teamster allowed him to take the leadership of the
strike and strengthen his position amongst the teamsters.
He became almost synonymous with business unionism and was eventually
sent to jail for corruption.
