If it is a privilege not to be lynched, then under certain circumstances
one _can_ say that whites are privileged. But it is an odd use of the
term, and seems to obscure rather than aid in understanding the
oppression of black people in the United States.

I find it incredible that people - especially Marxists - would deny that whites 
are privileged in US society.  White advantage is purchased with black 
disadvantage. Caste cuts across class and all white enjoy the wages of 
whiteness.
