The idea that guided the anarchists of the 19th century;  that their
violence, usually by bombings, will rouse the masses to become  revolutionary 
and
throw out the reactionary leaders still dies hard.
The  failure of the Arab people to throw out their own reactionary leaders
has  created despair and persuaded their would be leaders that desperate
measures are  needed.
Having reactionary ideas themselves; some of the opposition Wahhabi  in Saudi
Arabia, for example, believing that the earth is flat.
Having  demonised the ideas of Marxism, the ruling elite are now faced with
the  destructive nihilism of al Qaeda.
The scientific methods necessary to guide  decisive sections of society to
defeat capitalism, has not yet been understood  by sufficient numbers of the
Arab people.
The Middle East Communist Parties,  like those in the US and the UK,  having
been marginalised by 60 years of  hysterical anti-Communism and the fall of
Socialism in the Soviet Union and in  Eastern Europe.
The increasingly influential role of China on world markets  having not yet
impacted on the Middle East either.
In that sense the South  Americans are light years ahead, in terms of
revolutionary experience of the  Middle East.
It is possible however, that the horror of the London bombings  of 7/7 will
convince the disparate al-Qaeda cells, after 18 bomb attacks,  beginning in
December 1992, of the counter productivity of such a strategy.
