[Marxism] Trotskyists NOT for overthrowing Cuban government
Walter, your claim is untrue both politically and numerically:
-- "Walter Lippmann" <walterlx@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:
Keil holds the very familiar, traditional
Trotskyist opinion of Cuba, that is, Cuba is
a bureaucratically-deformed workers state
ruled by a one-party Stalinist party, and he
would logically, therefore, be in favor of
the overthrow of the Cuban government today
(by "the workers", of course).
Not true - the "traditional Trotskyist" opinion is the one best
articulated by Joe Hansen and still held by most Trotskyists
worldwide, that Castro and his team were and are revolutionaries,
that the state was deformed for lack of organs of workers' democracy,
but that no political revolution was needed, that reform was possible.
Furthermore it has been recognized that Castro and his team has
tacked left and right over the years due to a variety of factors --
and anyone following the mainstream Trotskyist press in any country
these days would see MORE agreement with the current actions and policies of
Castro right now than in some previous periods when he was
much more under the gun from the Soviet Union.
