[Marxism] Re: [swp_usa] 2005 ISO Conference--Reflections of an old YSAer
Sounds like the conference reflects the continuing ability of the
ISO to attract and inspire people. I would be interested to know
if the numbers concerned have changed dramatically compared to 5 or 10 years
ago. I hope so.
The comment below makes me wonder though about whether one practice
which has inhibited member retention has yet changed:
"The plenary assemblies were basically rallies that were very spirited
and interesting."
Were there no sessions for serious discussion -- including disagreement
--about resolutions and reports? Give what others have said on lists
recently about open, democratic functioning of the ISO on a local level
I hope this is reflected nationally as well. Because the ability to
disagree and therefore to come to a more refined or even different
position trains educated members who are more likely to stay in
for the long haul.
