[Marxism] Re: Lula Highlights Advances by Latin American Left

Rubinelli seems to be arguing that the Cubans
in pursuing ties with Brazil are simply pursuing
legitimate national interests, albeit perhaps at
the expense of the immediate political interests
of the working people of Brazil.
--Walter Lippmann

I'm coming late to this discussion. Does Rubinelli say that Castro's
alliance with the government of Brazil is "at
the expense of the immediate political interests of the working people
of Brazil?"

I have the impression that Rubinelli is saying that legitimate
governmental interest should not be a substitute for a working-class
analysis of Lula or any other leader of a political party or state.

If that were not so, any left political leader in Latin America and
throughout the world who allied themselves and their country with Cuba
would get a free pass so far as the working people of that nation were
concerned.

I believe that this is what happened to the Third International. And I
find it strange that Marxists would voluntarily subject themselves to a
similar kind of thinking without any similar external pressure.
