Re: [Marxism] A Strategic Analysis of Unity in the US Anti-War Movemen t

Robert's proposal should be pursued further -- and in fact dovetails
with another unity effort going on right now. Some of the same folks
from USLAW and elsewhere who pushed successfully for unity around the
date are now pushing for unity at the site -- joint platform, etc. The
statement includes this paragraph:
?We are convinced that new forms must be employed to ensure that we do not
constantly repeat the present divisive scenario [and] so that the democratic
expression of the ranks of the antiwar movement, which urgently call for unity,
can be brought to bear.?

If there are folks on this list interested in the current unity effort
around 9/24, and in pursuing more democratic decision-making structures
afterward, we should talk and should hook up with those circulating
the new unity statement.

Right. Rodino's analysis is good: single-issue, mass action, out now.
But what's up with the "representatives and leaders of the anti-war
movement" stuff? I'm a UFPJ member and I heard nothing about any
planning conference. Did anyone on this list? What's critically
needed as much as a good line is a for real national strategy planning
conference along the lines of the old NPAC-- non-exclusionary,
democratically run, deliberative mass meetings with procedural rules
that enable clear outcomes and avoid the pitfalls of consensualism and
PCPJ-type multi-issue kitchen sinking. Is it too grandiose that 20-30
members from this list could play a decisive role in such a
conference? If our take on the political appetities of the UFPJ
leadership is correct, they will resist such a proposal, but the rank
and rile should be receptive (an important distinction when looking at
the UFPJ). How about the ISO and ANSWER?
