Tackling and analysing the problem of institutional racism in a Marxist
fashion requires that we spurn the use of psychologistic terminology. To
suggest that awareness of white skin privilege on the part of white Marxists
is the consequence of 'guilt' is worse-than-useless psychologism. Are
Protestant republicans in Ireland suffering from a guilt complex? Are Jewish
anti-Zionists suffering from a guilt complex? Or is it self-hatred?
