Spotterly, well, she was at least an interested observor of the CPUSA's
politics, and IS in the CCDS.
She was in the 1988 Dinkins mayoral campaing, BTW.
I do agree the appreciation of the CCDS as "revolutionary" is pure
red-baiting, Horoshit stuff. The CCDS, unlike the CPUSA, doesn't claim to be
anything other than what its name claims, a committee of correspondence for
democracy and socialism.
I think their organizational model, if you can call it that, is similar to
Solidarity, except Solidarity has slightly better politics in general.
And, CCDS is indeed a split of the CPUSA, althought the CW that holds it was
over the breakup of the SU is not entirely correct. It was exacerbated by
it, but rather it was, or so I am told, by a number of domestic
organizational orientation questions, the main one being if to abandon the
Democrats for the then emerging Green Party movement.
After the 2000 election, there has been raproachment between the two, as
shown by the common block they present in UfPJ.
(I take it as self-evident that the CPUSA's refusal to embrace the emergent
Greens is a large reason for the Green's stagnation as an alternative force,
too late to fix that, but no time for illusions, had the CPUSA not gone
Clintonite, history would be much different today... Say what you will of
the CPUSA, but they have top-notch organizers, discipline and deep pockets,
three things the greens need like I need beer on a Friday evening...)
sks
