There was some questions about the term "popinjay" that Galloway used to
describe Christopher Hitchens. According to Alexander Cockburn, in the June 13
issue of "The Nation" on page 13, Ernest Hemingway used this term in Death in
the Afternoon: "a writer who appreciates the seriousness of writing so little
that he is anxious to make people see he is formally educated, cultured, or
well bred."
Regarding Hitchen's "Trotskyist background" Cockburn says the British "SWP was
the organizational home port of the drink-soaked former Trotskyist..."
