Immigrants in the armed forces (was Re: [Marxism] Does anybody feel a draft? I don't)

How numerous are "immigrants seeking citizenship" in the armed forces?

About 6% average for all the forces, with the Navy at between 7-8%.

Traditionally, the Navy has the highest number of immigrants, at times as
high as 10%, many of them Philipino, which as gone down since the bases
there closed.

Is it a growing category?

I don't have hard data on this, but the buzz is it is, in particular with
"expedited" process set in place after 9-11, in particular to "immediate
family".

Has the military started recruiting in other countries?

It has always done so. If you go to the USA embassy in Mexico City, and
several consulates, you will see recruitment propaganda and posters in
Spanish. Including some that promise citizenship in return, like posters
that offer 70k for college in the USA. I guess they do this in other
countries as well, but Mexico is the only one I can confirm.
