Re: [Marxism] Re: Anti-imperialism?

And for how long could 5000 people blockade a major port? A day? More
likely a few hours.
We blocked the airport in Puerto Rico with 5,000 people for 8 hours during
the general strike of 1998, and the seaports with about 1,000 for 2 days
using container barricades. Most ports have limited access routes. The
airport blockade lasted such a short while by choice, we could have stayed
more.
The French workers have plenty of experience doing that type of blockade. It
is tactically feasible.
The problem is political, not "military" for lack of a better word.
ANd also as of today, with the Patriot Act, it could face some pretty heavy
government opposition. In fact, the key group during the 1998 airport
blockade was the Water Workers Union, and when they were in strike late last
year, the government warned them such a stunt fell within the purvey of the
Patriot Act. Our lawyers agreed.
