The rabid Christianity really came later.

And as ante-room for the Absolutist transitional period between feudalism
and capitalism. And when the process completed, onwards came the
Reformation.

That is why the whole Battle of Civilizations thing I see as entirely
self-serving myths not unlike religion itself.

And why we must be careful to ascribe political Islam any sort of
superiority over political Christianity. They both come in the imperialist
and liberation brand.
