[Marxism] KILL THEM ALL and let God sort it out was Fallujah Rules of Engagement

The marine corporal whose killing of a wounded Iraq prisoner in a mosque in Fallujah has been acquitted. He will not face any charges. All his actions were performed within the rules of engagement.

As we know, it was U.S. occupation policy to not allow men between 15 and 55 to leave Fallujah before the aborted April 2004 onslaught (broken off because of world opposition) and the final November 2004 attack.

In other words, the U.S. forces wanted to trap them there in order to kill them all.

The rules of engagement in November were to kill them all. This is from a photographer for the LA Times:

“The JAG officer gave the rules of engagement: see a man 30 years or younger, light them up, woman 30 years or younger, light them up. Someone with a cell phone, light them up.”

The New York Times AP article below says:
“According to the Marine Corps, an enhanced videotape of the shooting supports the corporal’s claim that the wounded Iraqi was concealing his left arm behind his head. Although the Marines said it was unclear from the video whether the Iraqi made any overtly threatening gestures, enemy forces commonly feigned death.”

In any case, those of “military age” in Fallujah knew that they were going to be killed whatever they did. Putting aside the right of any occupied people to fight back by any means necessary, whether a wounded Iraq intended to fire, throw a grenade, etc., or just lay there, they were going to be killed.

The very day that it was announced that this corporal was acquitted, it is revealed that “The first Army investigator who looked into the death of former NFL player Pat Tillman in Afghanistan last year found within days that he was killed by his fellow Rangers in an act of ‘gross negligence,’ but Army officials decided not to inform Tillman’s family or the public until weeks after a nationally televised memorial service.”

Those who covered this up included “the theater commander, Gen. John P. Abizaid."

Some day, there will be a collection of known liars and known coverups. Of course, as Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld might say, there will also be many unknown known coverups. Here is the well-known bridge incident, for which former star West Point football quarterback Lt. Col. Nate Sassaman was reprimanded for his role in the coverup.

The New York Times, May 5, 2005

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- A Marine corporal captured on video shooting an apparently injured and unarmed Iraqi did not violate the rules of engagement and will not face a court-martial, the Marine Corps announced.
...
In sworn statements, the corporal said he shot three insurgents in self-defense in the mosque Nov. 13, believing they posed a threat to him and his fellow Marines, the statement said. Autopsy results showed that all three died of multiple wounds from gunshots fired from the corporal’s M-16.

One of the shootings was recorded by Kevin Sites, an NBC cameraman embedded with the Marines, and the dramatic footage prompted outrage among Iraqis and an immediate investigation by the Marine Corps.

In the video, as the cameraman moved into the mosque, a Marine in the background could be heard shouting obscenities and yelling that one of the men was only pretending to be dead. The Marine then raised his rifle toward an Iraqi lying on the floor of the mosque and shot him.
...
The Camp Pendleton statement said the corporal ‘‘could have reasonably believed that the AIF (anti-Iraq forces) shown in the videotape posed a hostile threat justifying his use of deadly force.’’

Before the opening of the Nov. 8 assault on rebel-held Fallujah, Marine commanders told infantrymen that THE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT ALLOWED THE USE OF DEADLY FORCE AGAINST MEN OF MILITARY AGE DEEMED TO BE HOLDING HOSTILE INTENT, even if they didn’t fire on the Marines first. [my emphasis in caps]

According to the Marine Corps, an enhanced videotape of the shooting supports the corporal’s claim that the wounded Iraqi was concealing his left arm behind his head. Although the Marines said it was unclear from the video whether the Iraqi made any overtly threatening gestures, enemy forces commonly feigned death.
