Re: [Marxism] Supporting the resistance?
Mr. Katz's arguments can, and have been, applied to any and every
resistance struggle....
Ireland, Indo-China, Algeria, South Africa...
Doesn't matter. Literally.
Mr. Katz proves that , that actual forms, tactics, and class basis of
the resistance don't matter when he says:
"I disagree that the overwhelming priority is to demand the withdrawal
of US troops and their allies. If the reactionary,
clerico-bourgeoisie of Political Islam were to seize power by stepping
into the vaccuum caused by a sudden US withdrawal, an enormously
backward step will have been taken."
The empowerment of reactionary factions, Islamic, Kurdish and otherwise
is a function of the US presence. The steps backward are the product of
continued US presence. See for example the US GAO report on impacts of
occupation on Iraqi society and standards of living.
Mr. Katz proves M. Junaid Alam's point that demand for immediate
withdrawal of the US is crippled by demonizing the resistance.
