We should always defend a distressed individual. Articles should
mention background of the situation, the particular soldier, and the
racism of the rank-and-file soldier including their racist defense
mechanisms.

It appears that his actions were directed against superior
officers--those whom he may have depended on to use their influence to
prevent the taunts and actions that were directed against him, his
beliefs, and the beliefs of those whom they were sent into war against.

The soldiers that he killed were being sent to kill and be killed. The
action of the government and its hypocrisy should be put on trial.
