As for the tensions - from what i have seen in Mile End and Outremont, the
situation is nothing like Brooklyn.
Since I live depending on who you ask in Prospect Heights or Crown Heigths,
I can attest to the racial tension, which permeates the air. When you see
the crowds of hassidic kids in the Franklin Avenue station, you can almost
taste the willingness of both crowds to get rowdy on each other.
There is a relative silence and the stares are cold and violent.
It utterly shocked me.
