Re: [Marxism] Re: Ratzinger elected pope: rightist and disciplinarian in h

Hi Luko,

My source for the number of homosexuals in the new recruits
to the priesthood is a hostile obituary of John Paul 2 in the
Guardian. It quoted a survey saying 40% of new priests
were "gay". Here in Australia there is anecdotal evidence
that backs up the American figure. Indeed my church source
puts the number of homosexuals at a much higher level.

I don't like describing them as gay, because that to me
indicates a level of consciousness and "out"-ness that my
closetted brethren do not have.

Not that that means I do not have sympathy with them. I do
and hope they make a swift transition to self-acceptance.

You are all asleep now in Europe and we are just in the noon
of our day. I make a little prediction that when you wake up
it will be to a barely surpressed horror at what the Curia
has dome in electing Ratzinger. Naing himself after a
liberal show that at some level he is aware of the problem,.
But of course the problem is not an image thing. It is
deeply material and structural. I will try and get time to
read Deutscher on the semi-comical efforts of the Stalinist
bureaucracy to reform itself after the death of Stalin and
then post that.

regards

Gary
