One-act comedies at U of Louisville

"All in the Timing" -- David Ives' award-winning collection of short
plays peppered with wit, word play, satire and fun -- opens tomorrow
and runs through Sunday at the Thrust Theatre. The production by the
University of Louisville Theatre Arts Department is directed by U of L
professor James Tompkins.

The show features six of Ives' comedies performed by 16 students.

"It's clever, fall-on-your-butt laughter," said Tompkins. "Everybody
likes a comedy. Come and watch a circus full of lunatics."

Among the topics of the one-act comedies are boy meets girl in a coffee
shop, three monkeys at typewriters on the brink of writing "Hamlet" and
Leon Trotsky trying to cope with an ax he discovers embedded in his own
head.
