Others on the left, including the SWP, WWP and others
did what they could to raise the issue of the Vietnam
war in various anti-war protests, history will record
that it was the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS)
whose April 1965 protest drew many thousands, which at
long last gave the issue national momentum. We in the
Young Socialist Alliance and our adult mentors in the
Socialist Workers Party played a very positive role in
building the protest. It's all recounted beautifully 
in Fred Halstead's OUT NOW!, the best book I know on
the subject. I'm proud to have built and attended the
protest, and to have helped Fred type the manuscript
of the book.
