[Marxism] A Crime To Fit The Punishment - April 11

Every Monday at 7pm, Barbes's backroom turns into a makeshift neighborhood
cinema, reminiscent in spirit - and resources - of the itinerant cinemas
still found in some parts of the world. Films include classic features,
documentaries, shorts and animation from around the globe and are all
screened in 16 mm. Admission is free.

Monday, April 11, 2005:

A CRIME TO FIT THE PUNISHMENT. U.S. 1982. (46 min) A documentary on the
making of Salt Of The Earth, and the attempts of both the industry and the
US government to derail its production - attempts which went as far as
pressuring film labs, theater owners, as well as deporting some of the
actors. Directed by BARBARA A. MOSS

preceded by

THE WILLMAR 8. US. 1980 (49 min) The story of eight unassuming, middle
class women in Willmar, MN who launched a bank strike to protest sex

struggle leads to clashes with their church, their families, and the
community at large. Directed by LEE GRANT.

-Exit at the southwest corner exit
-Make a u-turn and walk downhill on 9th street towards 6th Avenue.
