[Marxism] "Canada ... entitled to all the advantages of this Union"
The Articles of Confederation
Agreed to by Congress November 15, 1777; ratified and in force, March
1, 1781.
Article XI. Canada acceding to this confederation, and adjoining in the
measures of the United States, shall be admitted into, and entitled to
all the advantages of this Union; but no other colony shall be admitted
into the same, unless such admission be agreed to by nine States.
[The dropping of this provision must be added to other reactionary
aspects of the present Constitution of the United States. It showed
that the revolutionary ardor of the colonies was lost. Apparently there
is a similar fear should China also "[avoid] a settlement of this
national question through reunification [of Taiwan] with the People's
Republic of China."]
