Re: [Marxism] Taiwanese Independence Movement Progressive?
----- Original Message -----
From: "Tony Lawless" <lifesunquietdream@xxxxxxx>
Those on the list who think that the movement for Taiwanese independence
is progressive might want to check out the company some of these
characters wish to keep. The visit seems timed to offset the first visit
of the opposition Kuomingdang to mainland China.
That is my impression and now it is increasingly confirmed. The so-called
Taiwanese independence movement is nothing but a headway for Japanese
imperialism.
Just before WWII and even during, Japan supported legitimate (Indian,
Indonesian, Filipino, Malay, etc) and illegitimate (Manchurian) independence
movements all over Asia, all the while visiting the most ruthless forms of
imperialism into China and Korea, and even its puppet regime in Manchuria.
As a matter of fact, in French and British colonies, and I discussed this
with David W when we met recently in NYC, people recieved Japan as
liberators. It lasted about one day.
Even if China is indeed has an imperialist project, there is no doubt that
weaking Japan, and by proxy the USA, is a progressive task, and those who
oppose it are supporting the main enemy.
