[Marxism] Re: New Zealand struggles and left regroupment possibilities

Socialist Worker is indeed the IST group in New Zealand. The old CPNZ had
found its way to the theory of state capitalism independently of the IST.
Upon discovering the IST, it merged with the small NZ ISO, but the fusion
didn't last. In the ensuing split, the Tendency supported the ex-CPers; and
now the NZ ISO is loosely aligned with Socialist Alternative in Australia.

I like Grant Morgan but I'm not sure there's anything very "exciting" about
what he's quoted as saying. Believing that a "mass political break to the
left of Labour is possible ... so long as we tap into popular discontent
with methods and language the grassroots can relate to" sounds like
standard IS Tendency rhetoric. An orientation to left unity is consistent
with other tendency groups' orientation, eg the Australian ISO
participation in Socialist Alliance. Despite my personal scepticism, I wish
such efforts well; but this all looks like "same old same old" to me.
