whether a few dozen American Marxists has any effect, then your cynicism
is, perhaps, beyond redemption. Why even make *any* points? Actually,
it's the same kind of argument gets from the ABB crowd... 'what is
Nader's campaign gonna do...really??? Nader is useless....'"

To a materialist, there's a difference between dozens of people jumping
up and down calling for independent labor politics and a real movement
with hundreds and thousands of real people.

Treating words as separate and apart from context bleaches them of any
material meaning.  I hope it's being done here simply a junior high
debate tactic rather than an accurate reflection of some kind of magical
or religious perception of the world that imbues rightly sequenced words
with a special power.

The additional charge that my views reflect "cynicism" inclines more
heavily towards the latter.  I see large numbers of insurgent voters and
activists in motion, growing and evolving in the course of their
struggles...and I hope.  Those who disparage the nature of that
movement, do not see its course as a process, and counterpose to it
incantations defend the integrity of their litanies by accusing those
with faith in the people of "cynicism."

This level of the discussion (a non-discussion) is at ground level
zero...which is fine by me.

What will persuade the still unpersuaded (who are at all persuadable)
will be action and movement.  And this process in the material world has
a pace quite independent from the more prayerful incantations.
