Venezuela to train military reserves


Havana - Lieutenant General Melvin Lopez, Secretary of
the Venezuelan Security and Defence Council, has
announced that his country will begin a campaign to
train army reserves and that this force will number 1
million at the end of one year.

Lopez stressed that the move is aimed at bracing the
country for any possible attacks made by the US.

He also said that the reserves will not belong to the
National Armed Forces (FAN) and that the soldiers will
be based throughout the country where they live and
work. He said that FAN is now under review for
theoretical and ideological changes.
