[Marxism] Terri Schiavo: the right to live, to die, or to kill?

   CNN brought me reports and images of Terri Schiavo, a woman living  
in Florida with a severe brain damage for many years, and whose  
husband has just won a 7-year court fight to get the right to remove  
the feeding tube from here, so that she will die from lack of thirst  
and starvation within a relatively short time.

   Terri Schiavo's parents are fighting against that.

   Terri Schiavo's husbands advances that Terri had told him that she  
would not want to be kept alive by medical life support machinery, so  
he would be only fulfilling her wishes when stopping to nourish her.

   Terri Schiavo is not under medication, she is just too much  
debilitated to feed herself and was only supplied with liquids and  
food via that tube. Her life is not sustained by exterior, artificial  
technical means, it is just her nourishment which she can't take in  
like a person in command of his full abilities could do.

   I am very much in favor for each person's right to decide about the  
end of her own death, and for women to decide themselves if they want  
to produce another human being out of her body.

   According to what I could see from the TV footage, I say that Terri  
Schiavo is alive, she is reacting to people approaching her,  
communicating in her very limited way, smiling sometimes.

   So I don't think that this is about Terri Schiavo's right to chose  
her death, but about killing her by starvation and dehydration.

   What do other comrades think of this?
