[Marxism] From A Venezuelan: Message to my brothers and sisters In the US
MESSAGE TO MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN THE UNITED STATES
While my English is not as that of an English speaking born person please,
don't look to my linguistic or semantic mistakes rather look at the essence
or intention of my message which like this one I have been crying out there
many times since a while ago and through these same lists asking for
solidarity. I have been trying to be heard when I SAY that we can not wait
until my country Venezuela is invaded as happened to Iraq.
Notwithstanding, that the US has imposed within the New World order the
preemptive attacks, the sovereignty of the countries must prevail and must
be respected at all cost. Nevertheless, Venezuela can not be labeled a
rogue state or be compared with Iraq for the US to justify its intervention
in my country. The only thing in common that Venezuela shares with Iraq
besides of their beautiful people is that our both countries are sitting in
a big puddle of "black gold" which is the mere bottom line why the US
invaded Iraq and why they want to do the same thing in my country Venezuela.
Therefore, I join the voices of all my brothers and sisters in Venezuela to
tell you brothers and sisters in the United States that our country
Venezuela is at stake, a US military intervention can happens at any time we
can hear clearly the drums beating louder and louder. From the
Administration to the media there has been a constant campaign of distortion
about the goal of our revolutionary bolivarian process as well as the
discredit of our president Chavez. For instances, as the international
oil markets shows more and more instability the corporate media increases
its hostility against Chavez portraying him as an impediment to the economic
interests of the US multinationals which most of them belongs to the major
media.
Since Chavez became elected president in Venezuela in 1998 and won office
in December 2000 under the new constitution, in total together eight times
democratically elected including his victory over the last referendum of
August 15, 2004, there has been a numberless of destabilizing situations
against the democratic institutions of Venezuela that had carried out
terrorist acts including the failed April 11, 2002 coup d'etat in which the
country's constitution written by the people of Venezuela was annulled by
Pedro Carmona and his allies. The same thing the coupsters did with the
National Assembly which they dissolved, they also mobbed the Cuban Embassy,
persecuted and rallied the houses of many bolivarians assassinating them
during the nights between April 11 and April 13, 2002.
Not to mention the collapsing of the two-month Oil strike by corrupted
managers in the state-owned Oil Company, the PDVSA. Bosses organized the
strikes and they locked out their workers while corrupt union leaders
complained about the government defending workers' legal rights. During
these 2-month oil coup (12/2003 and 02/2004) Venezuela oil production was
reduced from a high of 3.2 million barrels per day in October and November
2002 to a low of 25 thousand barrels per day in late December 2002 and early
January of 2003. Venezuela depends on oil for 80% of its export earnings,
50% of its government revenue, and 30% of GNP; any change in oil production
or oil income will have a strong impact on the economy, and this is exactly
what happened during the economic blow during the 2-month of the strike/lock
out. However, and thanks to the heroic oil workers of Venezuela, the Oil
production was able to recover, and by May 2003 it was once again over 3
million barrels per day.
Notwithstanding, and while nothing that the enemy has attempted to use
against our president Chavez and against the bolivarian revolution, and
because in Venezuela, the word "democracy" has come to mean the overthrow of
the elected president, today the enemy is reaching to the means of the
assassination of the revolution's leaders including his main leader,
President Chavez as happened with the case to one of the most important
magistrates in our country such as with the case of Danilo Anderson who on
November 18, 2004 was blew up to pieces by two charges of C4 plastic
explosive fixed to his car and detonated remotely, apparently by cell phone.
Danilo Anderson was an investigating magistrate in charge of several
prominent and politically sensitive cases such as the one against the leader
of a mob that attacked the Cuban Embassy in Caracas during the failed coup
d'etat of April 12th (2002) and against some owners of Venezuelan TV and
Press media implicated in the April coup of 2002 as well as the signatories
of the coup declaration overthrowing the elected government.
It is absolutely unacceptable that in the United States where its government
has implemented an antiterrorist campaign including translated around the
world, publicly the media here in the US is inciting without any reserves
to the assassination of President Chavez, situation that has been going on
for a while in Miami, Florida, without any sort of government restrain .
For instance, on Thursday March 10, 2005 in the program "María Elvira
Confronts" the "JOURNALIST" Cuban/American María Elvira Salazar, in the
channel 22 cable television of Miami, this so-called journalist outlined
again a US military intervention in Venezuela, and the assassination of
President Chavez. Among the participants of the program it was the former
agent of the CIA, Felix Rodriguex - the same one that participated directly
in the death of the CHE in Bolivia .
PLEASE, JOIN MARCH 31 MOBILIZATION TO DEFFEND VENEZUELA!
