[Marxism] Drug Abuse and Unemployment Query

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone on the list could point me in the direction of
articles or statistics which elaborate the relation between drug abuse and
unemployment. Is drug abuse and alcoholism more prevalent amongst unemployed
than employed persons?

I suppose the 'abuse' part of the question would be extremely hard to
measure. Whilst alcoholism may be rife amongst the unemployed, its
appearance may be harder to detect, since potentially less destructive,
amongst employed people. Generally, some harmful drugs may be socially
acceptable (even 'useful') in some occupations and situations, whilst others
will be more socially taboo in others. Are unemployed people statisitcally
more likely to be alcoholics and abuse dangerous drugs than employed people?

thanks in advance.
