[Marxism] Kuwait, Taiwan, Tibet

Kuwait did belong to what is now called Iraq, just as Tibet and Taiwan both
belonged to China. Maybe the most importance difference between Kuwait and
Taiwan is that Kuwait did not set itself up as "Free Iraq" in opposition to
"Communist Iraq," the way Chiang Kai-shek set up Taiwan as "Free China." Nor
were the rulers of Kuwait those who fled Iraq after losing their
counter-revolutionary struggle against an Iraqi socialist revolution. And
Kuwait was not used as a means to undermine any socialist revolution in Iraq,
the way Taiwan was used by imperialism.

Tibet also historically belonged to China. Fred Feldman writes in an unclear
way about Tibet, but China had a right to retake control of Tibet, particularly
as it was being used to attack China. Whether the Chinese killed some people
they shouldn't have, and burned some temples they shouldn't have is a side
issue. Tarring and feathering people in the American revolution and burning
down the homes of British supporters wasn't too cool either. Neither is car
bombing civilians in Iraq. I don't know why Fred criticizes the Communist
Chinese role in Tibet and not the Dalai Lama's or imperialism's.
