[Marxism] Will the $2 Window Bettor Be the New Vanguard?
I went to the site Jurriaan suggested for Too Much and was intrigued
enough by the first paragraph to go to another site, which I think
presents one of those signs that the Apocalypse is coming and none too
soon for me.
Will the $2 window (if there is such a thing any more) be the new
vanguard?

Those fans, it turns out, are going to lose that thrill even with
slots. Last week, the corporation that owns the state's biggest track
announced a new move that, starting this May, will deny average fans a
view of the finish of the state's biggest race. That race, the
Preakness Stakes, brings national attention every spring to Baltimore's
historic Pimlico racetrack. Tens of thousands of fans buy tickets to
stand in the track's “infield” and share in the excitement. This year,
these average fans will have to get their kicks without a view of the
finish line. The track's owner, Magna Entertainment, has decided to
line the homestretch with luxury tents corporations can use to
entertain their most valued deep-pocketed clients. Sports industry
analysts call what Magna is doing at Pimlico “high-end marketing,” the
creating of “experiences” that physically segregate wealthy fans from
the hoi polloi.
Segregate the wealthy from the hoi polloi. And here I thought that we
were all "middle class."
Ooops, almost forgot that this is the "Sport of Kings."
