[Marxism] Janet Jagan - Thunder in Guyana IMPORTANT
I think there is virtually nothing similiar to the Iran coup in 1953 and
subsequent attacks on the gov't of Guyana.
1953 wasn't a destablization so much as an outright military coup.
In Guyana, the activities of the British and American intelligence spies laid
down the precedent for what happened later in Chile, Jamaica and, to a certain
degree, in Eastern Europe, especially Poland.
In Guyana, the CIA used the already existing union of mostly Black workers (as
opposed to the more multi-racial union composed of East Indian and Black
workers) to play a "black nationalist" card againt the PPP gov't. It involved
massive strikes and demonstrations and shootings, etc, all organized by CIA
supporters and agents. We see this unfolding in Venezuela today.
