there was a cool text several years ago by jim goad, *rednick manifesto*,
that addressed these issues. it's hard to locate goad politically. sometimes,
he reads like a nascent socialist; at other times, a reactionary. but
nonetheless worth the time just for his taxonomy re: the distinctions b/w
"hicks,"
"rednecks," "white trash," and such.
