MI5 was *not* the Indian Police. You went straight from school or college to
the Indian Police - not so MI5. It had a political role but yours is a very
ahistorical statement. There is a most interesting treatment of Orwell's
politics, always changing, in "George Orwell: Enigmatic Socialist", ISBN

the last few days. I must decalre an intert, the editor, Paul Flewers is a
good friend of mine and I know many of the contributers of the essays
therein.
