any comments?

i would EAGERLY help to make this happen, except ...

except that even getting locations from 700 subscribers is basically
un-doable. we've posted 3 or 4 times requesting that people with *.com
and *.net addresses let us know where they are from, and maybe we get
20, 30 responses. to make your vision a reality would need an ummmmm
organized mass movement on the list to collect this data. if we could
get 600 people to respond, i could write code to collate and display the
statistics.

so i will leave it to people like Steve to agitate on the list for the
need to collect this kind of data. i could fill in stuff like how many
people post how much, and so forth (anonymously or not), most common
threads per month, etc.

p.s. you're going to have to work a lot harder to define your "social
class background" category, if you want 700 list memebers to send me an
email offlist with a one sentence response i can parse with code.
