Absolutely correct. "Strategic bombing" is a myth, an ideolgy, that
simply obscures its real purpose... destruction of the living standards
of the general population. The foremost proponent of the ideology in
the US, Curtis "Bomb Them Back To The Stone Age" Lemay, relished the
"pain" bombing inflicted on the civilians as "breaking their will to
fight." Vietnam proved him more than wrong.

Studies of strategic bombing in Germany indicate it had a very small
impact on military production. Damage to transport infrastructure,
partcularly railroads, was generally repaired in less than 24 hours.

Air power in military combat has real value when deployed as CATS, close
air tactical support.

Wars are social struggles, they are won on the ground-- at Chattanooga,
Kursk, Santa Clara.
