When we publish the demographic listing for marxmail, we make an attempt
to identify the geographical location of each subscriber. To start with
we use the subscription email address to identify country and US state
if possible and applicable. Then we check a database of subscriber email
addresses and locations. This database is comprised of information from
people who have written onlist or offlist to let me know where they are
located: if in US, their state, if non-US, their country.

Now is a good time for people to add their names to this database if
they haven't already. Subscribers should rest assured neither Lou nor I
will release the information publicly, we simply use the data to
identify numbers of people subscribed from any given location.
