In the army at the time I believe that at the time we had no concern for
the victims of the Dresden - or other bombing raids - which we saw simply
as retaliation for Nazi bombing raids on London and elsewhere;

BUT - I am also sure that we felt there were better ways of using the Royal
Air Force than bombing cities, whether undefended or not, - and hat the RAF
and USAAF should concentrate on co-operation with the Allied Armies - at
close contact with the front.
