RE: [Marxism] Genocide and intentionality

I agree with Mark about the obscure academics, although I am not sure
that the real lesson isn't the difficulty of deciding on rules, besides
the very broad ones that exist, about what list members can discuss.
This character Henry Farrell I've been dealing with was just interviewed on
NPR on the subject of
"When Web Rumors Run Amok." You can listen to it at:

Here are some interesting facts from the above page:
Blog Bullet Points
-- In 1999, an estimated 50 blogs existed. Today the figure may exceed 4
million.
-- The top five political blogs are read by more than half-a-million
visitors per day.
-- The median income for a blog? "Zero dollars."
-- One study suggests that the Internet's top dozen bloggers attract 20
percent of all links from other blogs... a key way bloggers measure their
own success.
-- According to another study, Farsi is the fourth-most widely used
language among blogs worldwide.
-- There are an estimated 300,000 bloggers in China despite government unease.

I don't mind if comrades are not interested in debates with academic
bloggers. But you have to ask yourself whether it is possible to ignore
something as pervasive and as influential as this. Indeed, it would seem to
me that if the Militant newspaper was not online, nobody would ever comment
on it here since print-only articles are generally not worth discussing.
