This seems correct to me. It would seem to me on a marxist list (or any
other list that presupposes some minimal unity of principle) the goal is
not persuasion but clarity. And since e-mail flattens or distorts tone
(i.e., the relationship between writer/reader or writer/subject), it's
best to focus on the content and not fuss about the writer's tone.
