That grandly anouncing that he won't debate, is even worse than just not
debating. After all, if you don't have time to debate, you should have even
less time to pointlessly dwelve on the fact.

The point is Jurriaan was being banal, paternalist, condescing and arrogant
(even if in form funny). Which isn't a problem in itself, if it wasn't that
he so eloquently names some or all of those traits a political problems in
others.

Shouldn't throw stones in glass houses and all that.

As Carrol Cox's post illustrates, one of the main reason that Jurriaan
bashing is a phenomenon, is precisely because for some reason he does have
time to elaborate scholary replies that frustrate those of us who lack time
to properly return the favor. Jurriaan cop-out out of such replies gives
signs of him being human, but also means he is recieving a dose of the same
medicine he is so accostumed to give out.

I truly belive that Jurriaan bashing will disappear if he moves his more
extensive musings into a website or blog, like louis does. Then the bashing
can happen there and not ont his list.
