Jurriaan Bashfest 2005 (was Re: [Marxism] Reply to critics

Look guys, it's only Tuesday. I am getting people now trying to give me
lessons in dog detection, therapy, collectivism and what not. Give me a
break and let's move on to something more creative.

Your arrogance is so incredibly profound, because it expects the
conversation to be one sided, one in which you provoke, speak, pronounce
yourself, but if people, how dare them, express a difference of opinion, or
more often, point to glarring errors of logic, or of historical perspective,
or simply at unresovable contradictions, then you go to sleep, as if they
weren't worth the computer memory they occupy.

Like most of the things you sometimes scholary comment, but most often
blabber, on, they recall a lesser known Marxist, you might have heard of
him, Edouard Bernstein. This mixture of intolerant arrogance, in the name of
tolerance and democracy, is much more a problem in developing a freer
political movement than the raw honesty of the openly authoritarian
discources. It is much more a problem, because it obscures the question
behind rhetoric, and becomes as useful as Khrushev (or was it Brezhnev?)
declaring that the Soviet Union would reach communism by the 1980s.

You are indeed provocative, but in the way a pesky fly provokes one to
invent the flyswater.

(Of course, I like you way better than many of the rock-salt automatons that
pass for commies these days. At least you have good taste in music, and can
actually try to be witty. Not that hard either: Even the greyest of the
greyest of Comintern bureaucrats had more creativity than what many of our
fellows have today.)

But I certainly dislike the fact that instead of engaging in conversation,
you constantly offer college-level essays, which regardless of content, are
completely out of form in this medium.

Here is an idea, an honest one; you should setup a blog, or a site similar
to Proyect's. That way you can link to them. In this manner, your replies
will become more personal, conversational, and indeed, more effective.

sks
