[Marxism] 2046
Last night I went to see the movie "2046" on invitation by a friend (who
didn't like it), a kind of stark Kubrickian portrait of the experience of a
Japanese lady-killer who likes being in control of (rather girlish) women
more than really loving them and expertly manipulates women's feelings, but
who thereby winds up mystified by his own denial of his own vulnerability,
hanging between the past and the future. Brilliant and insightful, with
dashes of abstract humor, but also unerotic and somber. I wonder is there
any socialist commentary on this film?
