"let me make one thing perfectly clear" --  i think i speak for Lou as
well. our suggestion to switch to Thunderbird is based strictly on our
experience helping non-expert computer users interact with marxmail in
the easiest way for them (composition  and delivery) and others
(readability, bandwidth) on the list. we do not want technical problems
to unduly hinder anyone's participation. Eudora is also a fine email
application. i will continue to technically support anyone using it or
Outlook or any other commercial email app.

as we build experience helping people switch to Thunderbird, the path
for any individual comrade to make the switch should get easier. this is
my goal. so please send me reports on or offlist on your experience and
troubles.

just to quickly review the reasons for making the switch:

o it is easy to control important parameters related to formatting
(plain text, quoted-printable and MIME issues, etc)

o its east to handle line wrapping issues

o it's freely available and supported on the net

o its improving steadily with time (has calendar and other plug ins
available)
