Re: [Marxism] Left Anti-intellectualism and Its Discontents
<<So I think the article is completely misleading and misdirecting.>>
Fred
I'm not so sure about that. Whatever the peccadillo's of its authors,
the fact that these prominent left liberals say that we must study
Marxism is a Good Thing in my book.
Pragmatism up to now has predominated in US political and intellectual
life because US capitalism has been able to bend enough to keep the
middle class left neutralized as agnostics as regards to the system.
That capitalist ability to bend and stretch is coming to an end. Either
you are in for the iron fist and the torturers rack, or you are out.
Only Marxism offers a comprehensive alternative vision for the world. We
should expect to see more and more former left liberals beginning to
grapple with the logic of this new reality.
Would "The Thing to do Next" be to rake them over the coals for their
past misdeeds and current wrong ideas, or would it be better to welcome
them to the discussion?
