Now that I read it again, yes, it was cryptic.
What I wanted to say was quite simple, however.
For the worth of it, the general idea is that since (a) colonialism
and imperialism generate the basic contradiction in a non-
metropolitan country, and (b) imperialism in particular acts by
seeping into the economic and social fabric of the dominated country
somewhat like a virus[1], then (c) whatever nuance you could perceive
in the particular Christian religiosity of, say, Latin Americans or
Irish (why not Poles, too, whose Catholicism was partly a reaction
against Protestant German and Orthodox Russian manhunting occupiers?)
cannot be explained solely (though of course in the first place, but
not _solely_) by talking of the "natives". You need to take into
account the "nativizers", those who turn simple people into something
else.
Hope it is clear now. Certainly, it would be a pity if it weren't,
because it is a lot of times longer, and I dislike to misallocate
bandwidth.

[1] There was a really frightening tale by Ray Bradbury about a
little boy who discovered that "something" was taking command of
different parts of his body, nobody noticing it and simply telling
him not to say foolish things, until it took the last cell of the
brain. It was told, if I don't remember wrongly, in first person. I
found it quite interesting to explain what is it that a semicolonial
people feels when the country is invaded by imperialist "investors".
